Background and objectives: Present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Paradoxical Timetable Cure (PTC) on post-traumatic growth and self-compassion among long-term grief sufferers following COVID-19 bereavement.

Methods: This study employed a pre-test, post-test design with a control group and included a two-month follow-up period. The sample comprised 30 individuals in Kermanshah, identified in 2023 as having prolonged grief disorder (PGD), based on the Prolonged Grief Disorder Scale (PGD-13-R; Prigerson et al., 2021). These individuals were purposively selected based on specific criteria and then randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, each comprising 15 participants. The experimental group was administered Paradoxical Timetable Cure (PTC), while the control group received no specific intervention. Data collection was conducted Post-Traumatic Growth Questionnaire (PTGQ; Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996), and Self-Compassion Scale (SCS; Neff et al., 2003). The collected data were analyzed using univariate, multivariate analysis, and repeated measures of covariance in SPSS version 25.

Results: Results showed that PTC effectively enhances post-traumatic growth (P <0.001, F = 7.40) and self-compassion (P <0.001, F = 4.75) among long-term grief sufferers following COVID-19 bereavement.

Conclusion: The results showed that the PTC is effective on post-traumatic growth and self-compassion among long-term grief sufferers following COVID-19 bereavement. In summation, the proficiency of PTC in enhancing post-traumatic growth and self-compassion amongst those enduring extended grief in the wake of COVID-19 bereavement accentuates its potential as a beneficial therapeutic paradigm.
